What is IPTC data? Initially developed by the Newspaper Association of American (NAA) and the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) as an attempt to standardize various metadata formats, IPTC metadata today is the most commonly implemented form of user-defined metadata. It is used to store user input such as titles, keywords, image descriptions, and copyright notices. Some programs (such as Adobe PhotoShop) allow you to enter IPTC metadata and store it in an image at any point during the work-flow. There are many IPTC data editors available on the market today.
How large are the photos and images? What is the DPI? The file sizes and resolutions vary depending on what the photographer or artist provides to us, you will see the resolution and any special size information on the details pages. The important thing about the dpi of the image is that you can easily change it using most graphics programs available today. Change 72 dpi to 300 dpi or vice versa. It has no effect on the image itself when done correctly except for actual print size. If you aren?t sure what you need, just get the largest pixel dimension image you can for maximum flexibility. Bigger pixel size is better, especially for printing uses.
Remember this rule-of-thumb: If you go from 72 DPI to 300 DPI your image?s printable area will be about 24% less. A 2500 pixel image at 72 DPI will print at about 34 inches. A 2500 pixel image at 200 DPI will print about 12 inches across. A 2500 pixel image at 300 DPI will print 8.5 inches across.
